Local Officials Want TikTok To Be Held Accountable For The Car Theft Trend

Written by on March 21, 2023

In the past five months in Monroe County there have been over 1,400 Kias and Hyundais stolen. Congressman Joe Morelle and other local leaders held a press conference addressing the increased thefts and trend that originated on TikTok.

Congressman Morelle, local officials, and law enforcement are going to try to hold the social media platform accountable for the exploitation of security flaws in certain model cars.

Officials said they have tried to hold them responsible however TikTok refuses to take action.  Rochester is not the only city that has this concern or has tried to get TikTok to do something but the platform will not do anything about the content.
