Local gym owners concerned with reopening rules

Written by on August 18, 2020

Governor Cuomo announced that gyms can open on Monday, August 24th under certain conditions. Gyms have to be inspected by the Monroe County Health Department within two weeks of opening. The air filtration requirement is now something called MERV-13 and owners are worried that could require expensive upgrades. Personal trainers who might not have such large costs associated with operating an entire facility seem excited to get back to working out. Other rules include gyms operating at 33% capacity, and enforcing masks during working out.
