Local Community Members Rally to Remember Victims to Violence

Written by on April 26, 2021

This past Saturday, local communities in the city of Rochester rallied together to stand in remembrance of those who are victims of violence. The major groups that were involved were the ROC The Peace organization and members of First Genesis Baptist Church. Both groups rally to demand peace within their neighborhood.

Sirena Cotton, founder and president of ROC the Peace stated that “We’re out here, we walk the streets, we walk, talk, and pray on a weekly basis, and we do whatever we can.” First Genesis Baptist Church Pastor Fred Johnson commented on top of that, stating “We want to ensure the people feel that this is their community and that violence is not something that we accept, nor will we be quiet about it.”

These groups plan to continue their rallies throughout the summer.
