On Monday, March 30, Melissa Viviane Jefferson, the 31-year-old singer and rapper known as Lizzo, thanked coronavirus emergency healthcare workers in various hospitals across the country by buying them lunch. On hospital Twitter accounts, Lizzo posted video messages to express her appreciation for their hard work:
To M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center, Lizzo said: “You guys are putting yourselves on the frontline, so because of that, I wanted to treat y’all to a meal…. Lunch on me! I love you guys. Thank you so much for being the heroes in this story.
To UW Medicine, she said: “Shout out to all of y’all for being so brave and working so hard, making sure that we’re safe and healthy and healing people. That is incredible. You guys are heroes. And so the least I could do was send you some lunch.”
She also posted a video on her Instagram account that showed workers in the different hospitals receiving their food. The healthcare facilities that received the lunches included Henry Ford Hospital, University of Washington Medicine Center Montlake Emergency Department, and Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
According to several sources, Lizzo reps have confirmed that she does have plans to donate meals to additional hospitals soon.
