A 2.2 magnitude earthquake occurred Wednesday night in Lake Ontario, about 12 miles north of Pulteneyville.
According to the USGS, the quake struck at 7:19 p.m. at a depth of 7.9 km, with an epicenter near 43.396°N, 77.175°W.
Because of its small magnitude and offshore location, few—if any—people likely felt it.
The city of Rochester lies roughly 27 miles from the epicenter.
