LeVar Burton Claps Back

LeVar Burton recently responded on social media to a caller on the British radio talk show LBC, who made controversial remarks about Vice President Kamala Harris. The caller, James, attributed Harris’s rise to “woke” culture, suggesting her race and gender played a significant role in her success. Despite efforts by the host, Ben Kentish, to emphasize Harris’s qualifications, including her background as a successful lawyer, James persisted with his claims.
In a bizarre twist, James argued that he wasn’t racist because he had a tattoo of Kunta Kinte, an enslaved African character from Alex Haley’s “Roots,” on his arm, claiming Kinte was a hero of his. Burton, known for his role as Kunta Kinte, clapped back on social media, quote-tweeting the video and challenging the caller by saying, “Pic or it didn’t happen.” He further tweeted, “Racism is not simply a personality flaw, it’s also a spiritual defect.”
