Lawmakers From Minnesota Considering Prince For Congressional Gold Medal

Prince may posthumously recieve the Congressional Medal Of Honor. The award is the highest expression of national appreciation for distinguished achievements and contributions.
Since 1776 only 163 people have received this honor which includes Rosa Parks, Colin Powel, and the Tuskegee Airmen.
Minnesota’s Congressional Delegation is the bipartisan group that introduced legislation Monday for the award for Prince. The bill honors the iconic artist for his “legacy of musical achievement and… indelible mark on Minnesota and American culture.
Purple Rain was added to the Library of Congress in 2019 for being culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.
In order for Prince to recieve the honor the bill must be supported by both sides of the House and Senate.
