Kristen Clarke 1st Black Woman To Lead The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division

Congratulations to Kristen Clarke! Clarke was confirmed by the Senate this week to lead the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. The longtime civil rights lawyer, Clarke is the first woman of color to formally serve in the position.
Democrats and Republicans fought over Clarke’s record during confirmation to earn the appointment. According to Yahoo News, Clarke’s confirmation vote was largely along party lines. Approving her nomination by a 51-48 vote. Senator Susan Collins of Maine was the only Republican to join all Democrats and Independents in voting to confirm the 46-year-old. Click Here To Read More
