Kamala Harris gives Joe Biden her full support

On Sunday, March 8, 2020, former California Democratic presidential candidate and U.S. Senator, Kamala Harris, announced publicly via a statement and a video on her Twitter account that she was endorsing Joe Biden in the current Democratic race for president.
Harris had known former Vice President Biden and his family before her own presidential run. Biden’s deceased son, Beau, also served as the Delaware Attorney General at the same time that Harris served in the same position in California. Biden has also acted somewhat like a career mentor by offering Harris encouragement behind the scenes and in public.
There can be no mistake that this moment might have had a tinge of negativity. The two politicians were previously rivals until Harris dropped out of the race in December and often had bitter exchanges during debates. Yet, Harris made her choice based on Biden’s history of helping others, including the black community and minorities.
In her statement, Harris stated, “When I started my run for president, I said America needs a president who reflects the decency and dignity of the American people; a president who speaks the truth; and a president who fights for those whose voices are too often overlooked or ignored. I still believe that to this day. That is why I am proud to announce I am endorsing my friend, Vice President Joe Biden, for President of the United States.”
