Judge Orders Release of Immigrant with Ties to Press Secretary Leavitt
Written by Site Hub on December 6, 2025
An immigration judge ruled that Bruna Ferreira, a Brazilian national and former fiancée of White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt’s brother, be released from ICE custody on $1,500 bond. Ferreira was arrested in Massachusetts while driving to pick up her son and transferred to a detention center in Louisiana. Though previously labeled a “criminal illegal alien” by DHS, her lawyer disputed the claims and emphasized her long-term U.S. residency and participation in DACA. The government did not oppose her release. Ferreira is applying for a green card. The case has drawn attention due to her connection to a high-profile White House official, though Leavitt and DHS have not commented.
