Judge Calls A$AP Rocky’s Mother ‘Very Beautiful:’ ‘That’s on the Record’

During the second day of jury selection for A$AP Rocky’s assault trial on January 22, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Mark S. Arnold made a notable comment about the rapper’s mother, Renee Black. Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, is on trial for a 2021 shooting incident involving his former friend, Terell Ephron (A$AP Relli), and faces two counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm.
In court, Judge Arnold inquired about the attendees in Rocky’s section and was surprised to learn that Black, present alongside Rocky’s sister Erika B., was his mother. “You must have had him when you were about 7?” the judge joked, to which Black clarified she was 26 at the time of Rocky’s birth.
The judge then openly complimented Black, saying, “You are very beautiful. That’s on the record,” prompting laughter from Rocky and his family as they left the courtroom. The lighthearted moment provided an unexpected diversion in what remains a high-profile legal case.
