John Thompson, HOF College Basketball Coach Has Passed Away at 78

The Hall of Famer, and Legendary Georgetown College Basketball Head Coach John Thompson has passed away. Initially reported by DC Radio station, The Team 980. Thompson was the first black coach to win the NCAA championship. He led the Hoyas to the title in 1984.
Thompson coached many NBA players, including Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning, Dikembe Mutombo and Allen Iverson. Under Thompson, 26 players were chosen in the NBA Draft. Eight in the first round including two players selected first overall, Ewing by the New York Knicks in 1985 and Iverson by the Philadelphia 76ers in 1996. Thompson was 78. To Read More Click Here.
