JaziLupini, a Rochester-based food company founded by Jazz Sanchez, has received a $20,000 grant and business training from PepsiCo. Sanchez, originally from New York City, created a high-protein, low-carb pasta made from lupini beans during the pandemic. The pasta, boasting 26 grams of protein, three net grams of carbs, and 18 grams of prebiotic fiber, initially sold thousands of units on Etsy. Following a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2021 that raised $20,000, JaziLupini expanded to direct ordering and distribution in 200 small stores across the U.S., including Tree Town Cafe in Penfield. With the PepsiCo grant, Sanchez aims to enter mass retail and rebrand the product, encouraging followers to stay updated online.
