Yesterday, October 23, 2019 the WDKX Jam Squad attended Mary McLeod Bethune School No. 45 for their annual Halloween in the Hallway celebration, presented by New York State Senator Richard Funke.
This annual Halloween spooktacular creates a safe space for students and their families to go to for trick or treating, haunted houses, pumpkin carving and so much more! Upon checking in, students who weren’t dressed up got to choose from a variety of different costumes to wear for the night. After that, families took to the halls indulging in all the different activities available to them.
After the children took advantage of the amazing candy selection in the hallway trick or treat, many of them decided to carve pumpkins, test their bravery in the haunted house or take pictures at the selfie station. In my opinion, the most popular attractions by far were the three large bounce houses and impromptu dance party located in the gymnasium. And of course the Jam Squad supplied some great tunes and giveaways.
My favorite part about this event was just sharing in on the fun the students and families were having. Several vendors and sponsors of the event were in attendance. Some of these included Spectrum, Rochester Fire Department, who provided a fire safety bounce house, Wegmans, Boy/ Girl Scouts of America and, of course, NYS Senator Richard Funke.
Lastly, we can’t forget the teachers and staff at school #45 who assisted throughout the night, many of them sporting their own Halloween costumes. This was a great and safe way to celebrate Halloween, indeed. I can’t wait to see what school #45 and Senator Rich Funke have planned for next year!
