Jam Squad Recap: Roberto Clemente School #8 Career Day

Today the WDKX Jam Squad made an appearance at Roberto Clemente School #8 for their career day. The school, which is located on the city’s east side near the Upper Falls neighborhood, serves students from Pre-K all the way to 8th grade.

This was a blast for us, we were privileged to meet students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade and talk to them about how much fun we have at work! They asked great questions like, “What kind of education do you need for this career?”, “What do you love most about your job?” and, of course, “Miss, do you talk on the radio?” LOL! ?

I think it’s great that school #8 is driving students to become career minded so early in life, it gives them more time to explore what’s out there and try new things to learn what they like and what they don’t like. More than 20 different kinds of businesses attended, all catering to the wide interests of the students.

My favorite part of the day was seeing the faces of the 1st- 4th grade students who won free bikes for their perfect attendance!  If there’s one thing we know how to do, it’s praise our community scholars for excelling in education. One student, Anthony Ramos, decided to give his bike to his little sister because he already had one and she didn’t (I’m not crying, my eyes are just sweating) ???.

Congratulations to Roberto Clemente School #8 students Zadiel Bayron, Anthony Ramos and Thomas McMillon on your perfect attendance this year! Let’s keep it going!! ????
