This past Thursday, September 26th, the WDKX Jam Squad had the pleasure of attending a picnic in Genesee Valley Park hosted by the wonderful staff of Dr. Charles T. Lunsford School No. 19.

This was their annual Family Picnic in the Park in which everyone celebrates the beginning of the new school year, and teachers and staff get to spend some valuable quality time bonding with students and parents. There was great food, of course, and games for the students, parents, teachers and staff to play together.

The school also invited other vendors to the event including Fidelis Care and the Boy/Girl Scouts of America, providing helpful resources to the families of the students. Rec on the Move made an appearance as well, bringing along their giant Jinga blocks, jump ropes, hula hoops and more! There was even an impromptu kickball game to burn off all the food we ate!

The WDKX Jam Squad also had to come through to add in on the fun. We provided great music, free wdkx.com t-shirts and registered parents and staff for a chance to win tickets to see Fantasia’s The Sketchbook Tour.

All in all, this event was a major success! Everyone was smiling from start to finish and we had fun playing and dancing with the students. Especially when the songs ‘Wobble’ and ‘Cupid’s Shuffle’ played LOL!

A special thanks goes out to Principal Moniek Silas-Lee, Assistant Principal John DeFazio, and the entire School No. 19 family for inviting us to their annual Family Picnic in the Park. Hope to see you next year, we had a blast!
