Jalen Williams’ 40-Point Game Pushes Thunder Toward NBA Title

Written by on June 18, 2025

Jalen Williams scored a career-high 40 points in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, helping the Oklahoma City Thunder defeat the Indiana Pacers 120-109 and take a 3-2 series lead. Williams became the third youngest player to score 40+ points in a Finals game, joining Magic Johnson and Russell Westbrook. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 31 points and 10 assists. The Pacers made a strong second-half push, but injuries to Tyrese Haliburton and key defensive stops by OKC sealed the win. The Thunder will look to clinch the title in Game 6 on June 19.
