Jadakiss delays album release in wake of Pop Smoke murder

Jadakiss’ latest album ‘Ignatius’ was to be released on February 28th, although the rapper has decided to push the drop date back by a week.
The hype surrounding the New York rapper’s forthcoming album has been well-crafted and has generated some serious social media interest. In the run-up to February 28th, Jadakiss had been doing the interview circuit, and had even tentatively released a track from the album – Hunting Season, featuring Pusha T – via TIDAL. The track was almost immediately taken down, which added more to the mystique of the forthcoming full-length.
However, it seems now that ‘Ignatius’ has been put on the back-burner for the near future, with the rapper explaining that he had decided to delay the release date of the album to pay respect to fellow rapper Pop Smoke, who was murdered at home by suspected burglars last week.
“It just didn’t seem like the right time,” said Jadakiss, regarding the subject matter of ‘Hunting Season’, which focuses on hunting down other rappers. The video also features content that could be considered insensitive considering the recent murder of Pop Smoke, and it is speculated that Jadakiss’ label may also have suggested pushing back the release date.
‘Ignatius’ will be released on Friday, March 6th, 2020 instead.
