Written by on May 26, 2024

Carlo Acutis, an Italian teenager known as “God’s influencer,” is poised to become the Catholic Church’s first millennial saint. Pope Francis has recognized a second miracle attributed to Acutis, who was a gamer and computer programmer before he died from leukemia in 2006 at age 15.

Life and Faith: Acutis used his tech skills to promote Catholicism, including creating a website documenting miracles. Despite his non-religious parents, his faith was nurtured by his Polish nanny.
Miracles: The first recognized miracle was the healing of a Brazilian boy with a pancreatic defect. The second involved a Costa Rican girl who recovered from a head trauma after her mother prayed at Acutis’ tomb.
Beatification and Canonization: Acutis was beatified in 2020. Following the recognition of two miracles, the Pope will convene a meeting of cardinals to finalize his sainthood.
Legacy: Born in London in 1991 and later moving to Milan, Acutis is remembered for his love of video games and is seen as a bridge between the Church and younger generations in the digital age.
