Irondequoit Residents Left Without Trash Pickup

Trash pickup issues affecting about 200 Irondequoit households were discussed at a town board meeting Tuesday. 

Waste Management canceled service last month without notifying the town, citing financial and safety concerns on narrow roads. 

Casella later took over some routes but also canceled service for similar reasons. Residents voiced frustration, and the town voted to extend both haulers’ contracts through February while seeking a solution. 

Under town code, private haulers must provide full coverage and cannot refuse service to certain neighborhoods.
