Only just a few days after Hurricane Ida left a trail of destruction, forecasters are keeping an eye on another storm churning across the Atlantic that could be even more destructive. According to an Accuweather meteorologist, Hurricane Larry, now a Category 3 hurricane, could intensify into a Category 4 storm. Accuweather stated: “At this point, it is most likely that Larry will miss the United States and stay a few hundred miles away from the Northeast coast.
The National Hurricane Center said that Hurricane Larry was located about 830 miles east of the Northern Leeward Islands on Sunday afternoon, moving to the northwest at 13 mph and maximum sustained winds were 125 mph, with higher gusts. The National Hurricane Center stated: “Little change in strength is forecast during the next few days, although fluctuations in intensity will be possible. Larry is expected to remain a major hurricane through the middle of this week”
