Two women, Sharah Stevens and Shelia R. Williams, have shared their harrowing experiences as survivors of the tragic attack outside the Kodak Center in Rochester, New York, on New Year’s Eve 2024. The incident unfolded when an SUV, carrying gas cans, drove into a crowd, killing two Uber passengers, Josh Orr and Justina Hughes, and a pedestrian, Dawn Revette.
Sharah had left the concert early due to bad weather and was hit, thrown 60 feet, and severely injured, suffering a broken pelvis, spinal fractures, and a punctured lung. Shelia, on her way to work, escaped her burning car with minor injuries but witnessed the chaos and devastation.
The driver of the SUV, engulfed in flames, reportedly had suicidal intent, leaving survivors grappling with the senselessness of the attack. Despite the trauma, both women have focused on recovery. Sharah continues to face physical challenges, while Shelia has drawn strength from bonds formed with others affected by the tragedy.
Both women expressed gratitude for their newfound community and determination to move forward, turning their pain into resilience as they honor the lives lost and support one another through healing.
