House GOP Targets Biden’s Student Debt Relief
Written by Site Hub on April 30, 2023
With the deadline for student loan payments approaching, many borrowers are uncertain about whether they will need to resume paying or not. Recently, House Republicans proposed a spending cut plan that would eliminate all of President Joe Biden’s student loan assistance programs, including ending the payment moratorium and canceling federal borrowers’ balances. This proposal jeopardizes an important administration priority.
Currently, payments will only restart 60 days after the resolution of a pending Supreme Court lawsuit. If the case remains unresolved by June 30, borrowers will need to start making payments again 60 days after that date.
