The festive season took a somber turn for several residents of Monroe County as a series of car break-ins disrupted Christmas celebrations. Authorities are currently investigating three separate incidents that occurred on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning.
In Henrietta and Penfield, thieves targeted vehicles parked at two church locations during Christmas Eve services. The timing of these incidents has added to the frustration and dismay of those affected, as the intrusions marred what should have been a peaceful and joyous evening.
Meanwhile, in Rochester’s Park Avenue neighborhood, a total of 11 cars were damaged in what appears to be another wave of coordinated break-ins on Christmas morning. Residents awoke to find shattered windows and ransacked interiors, further intensifying concerns about safety during the holidays.
The Rochester Police Department (RPD) and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office are collaborating to investigate these crimes. While details remain limited, law enforcement is urging residents to remain vigilant, avoid leaving valuables in plain sight, and report any suspicious activity immediately.
Anyone with information about these incidents is encouraged to contact local authorities. The community’s cooperation will be crucial in bringing those responsible to justice and preventing further incidents during this season of giving.
