Verda Tetteh, 17, just graduated from Fitchburg High School last Friday.
During her ceremony she made an announcement asking that her $40,000 scholarship go to someone attending community college.
Tetteh said:
“I am so very grateful for this. But I also know that I am not the one who needs this the most.”
The Principal, Jeremy Roche stated:
“When she started speaking on the microphone, I was overwhelmed. I think a lot of people in the stadium were, honestly. I was so moved by her generosity.”
Verda Tetteh will be attending Harvard in the fall where she plans to study biochemistry. She felt inspired by her mom who attended community college, and this inspiration swayed her decision.
