Hidden Ticket Fees Banned in NYS

Yesterday, Governor Kathy Hochul signed new legislation that cracks down on potentially unfair and deceptive ticketing practices in the live event industry. The following changes are included in this bill:
Bans hidden fees. Ticket sellers and resellers must clearly disclose the total cost clearly
Fines increased for the use of illegal ticket purchasing software or scalper bots
Bans sale of tickets originally distributed for free
Prohibits delivery fees on tickets delivered electronically or printed at home
Governor Hochul stated: “Live entertainment has long been a critical sector in our economy, and as consumers and the industry recover from the pandemic, it is important that we make the ticket-buying experience easier and more transparent.”
