Hacker Tries To Poison A Florida City Water Supply

Written by on February 8, 2021

So a hacker that is not known to be in or out of the United States hacked the Florida water supply. A computer that controls the water system in Oldsmar was accessed remotely on Friday. A plant operator saw the computer was accessed but thought it was a supervisor. But another attempt was made later that afternoon.

During that attempt, the hacker gained access to the software that controls the treatment of the water supply. This is when the hacker upped the sodium hydroxide content from 100 parts per million to 11,000. That chemical is found in drain cleaner. The high level is dangerous and can cause irritation to the eyes, skin, and hair loss. But swallowing the chemical can cause vomiting, nausea, and damage to the mouth and throat.

The plant operator noticed the change immediately and brought the levels to normal. The remote access to the water plant has been disabled.

After this hack the biggest question is are we safe in America right now?

This last past administration and how it has hurt our country in a multitude of ways one being national security you have to ask that question. Are we safe?
