Dustin Jimenez, a Greece native, is heading to the Olympic boxing training camp, a journey that began with playful boxing matches with his father. His passion for boxing was ignited at a young age when his father took him to a boxing club on his 11th birthday after realizing his son’s potential.

Earlier this year, Jimenez made history as the first male boxer from Rochester in decades to win a Golden Gloves National Championship. His father, Jason Jimenez, expressed immense pride and emotion, stating, “Every Spanish father out there wants their son to be a boxing champion. I’m speechless.”

Though Jimenez is not eligible for the Olympic team this year, he is determined to represent Rochester and showcase its talent on an international stage. He aspires to join the Olympic squad in 2028. “I want to show the world what this city has. It’s not just me. It’s a lot of boxers here that have a lot of talent. Not even boxers, singers, and football players,” Jimenez said.
