Yesterday marked Governor Kathy Hochul’s one-week anniversary since taking office. Governor Hochul held her first coronavirus briefing with a focus on the Delta variant and announced $65 million in funding for local governments to administer booster shots. The governor made her briefing at the University of Buffalo’s Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

Governor Hochul stated when addressing the 76% of New Yorkers ages 18 and up have one dose of the vaccine: “That’s not good enough. It only works when you have two doses, my friends.” Governor Hochul also spoke on her k-12 school mask mandate, stating: “This may seem uncontroversial, but I assure you that I’ve heard that it’s not. It doesn’t matter. I’m willing to make tough decisions if I think it’ll protect the people of this state.”
