Governor Hochul Signs Executive Order to Toughen Up on Threat Monitoring

Yesterday, Governor Hochul returned to New York City to address some New York concerns after the terrorist act in Buffalo. Hochul started the conference with a moment of silence for those who lost their lives to gun violence. Hochul stated: “…it was a case of an 18-year-old male who was radicalized by white supremacist and white nationalist beliefs…The most serious threat we face as a nation is from within…[This crisis is] mainstreaming of hate speech and the easy access to military-style weapons.”
Because of the incidents that occurred in Buffalo, Hochul announced that she is signing an executive order, establishing a unit within the Department of Homeland Security focusing exclusively on domestic terrorism, a threat assessment management program to identify a threat, and for every New York county is to analyze their policies, submitting those polices to the state by the end of the year.
