Governor Hochul: Masks are still Required in Airports, Public Transit & More

Written by on April 21, 2022

While some may have celebrated as a federal judge lifted the mask mandate on public transportation, Governor Kathy Hochul has stepped in to say that this is not true for New York. In yesterday’s press conference, Governor Hochul announced that masks will be required “for the short term” on public transit such as airports and subways and in state-regulated healthcare settings, correctional facilities, and homeless and domestic violence shelters.

Governor Hochul stated: “We believe that in certain settings for now… if we hadn’t seen these two variants, I suspect we would have been able to say goodbye to masks in all settings, but you know, we watch for variants, they come and now we’re starting to see cases and hospitalizations go up.”
