Good News For RCSD As Graduation Rates Increase

Written by on October 8, 2020

Here is some cautiously good news. The Rochester City School District released the graduation rate for the 2019 – 20 school year. The district reported that its graduation rate is 68.2%.

The reason I say the cautiously good news is because the New York State Education Department has not confirmed these numbers. However, this is good news because we have not seen these kinds of numbers in over a decade.

Wednesday the district leaders released the information which shows a five-point increase in graduation from the last school year. They also show that East High School had a dramatic improvement going from 33% in 2014-15 to 77.5% for this school year. Shout out to Principal Shaun Nelms and students who worked hard to achieve that success!

If the NSED confirms the data for graduation this will be a small but huge accomplishment and a milestone for the RCSD.
