George Eastman Museum Announces School of Film Preservation’s Scholarship for Black Students

The George Eastman Museum has announced a new scholarship program available for Black students who wish to enroll at the L. Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation for the academic year of 2024-2025.
Founded in 1996 through the collaborative efforts of producer L. Jeffrey Selznick and Paolo Cherchi Usai, the latter a former Senior Curator at the George Eastman Museum, the L. Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation dedicates itself to the education of individuals passionate about the safeguarding of film heritage. In 2005, the school partnered with the University of Rochester to offer a two-year Master of Arts degree in film preservation.
The Diedrea D. Tisdale Memorial Scholarship is a fund intended to support students, which according to a statement released by representatives of the program, “Advances our institution’s key strategic goal of fostering more inclusive museums and archives and empowering talented individuals from underrepresented communities.” This scholarship is established in memory of Diedrea D. Tisdale, a devoted Rochester local, and is made possible through generous contributions in her name.
