Fox’s Deli in Brighton and the House of Guitars in Irondequoit have both been nominated for the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry. Fox’s Deli, originally opened by Irving Fox in 1943 with roots dating back to 1929, is known for its traditional Jewish recipes and loyal customer base. Current owner Alex Rhinewald expressed gratitude for the nomination and for the support of regular patrons. The deli also has plans to expand with a bagel shop on Park Avenue and recently opened a pop-up at the JCC of Greater Rochester.
The House of Guitars, opened in 1964 by Armand and Bruce Schaubroeck, has been a cornerstone of Rochester’s music community. The iconic shop, famous for hosting many well-known musicians, was also nominated for the historic business registry.
