Schools across the U.S., including those in Florida, are preparing for potential visits from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as the agency resumes operations in locations previously restricted under a Biden-era rule.
This change allows ICE to target individuals without proper documentation on school campuses. Evan Power, chair of the Florida Republican Party, reassured those concerned about ICE’s presence in schools, stating that Florida schools will comply with law enforcement efforts regarding immigration laws.
Meanwhile, various school districts, including Pinellas County and Polk County, are reviewing guidance from the Department of Homeland Security and plan to adhere to federal and state laws.
