A second-alarm fire broke out Tuesday night at the Monroe Avenue building in Brighton that houses Brownstein’s Bagels, a long-standing local business.
The fire was reported around 9 p.m., and quickly spread throughout the structure, which also formerly housed Ken’s Pizza Corner.
Due to dangerous conditions, firefighters had to battle the flames from outside, relying on exterior water streams because of the building’s solid cement block construction.
The fire was mostly contained by 11:45 p.m., with crews continuing to address hotspots into early Wednesday.
Brownstein’s Bagels later stated on Facebook that the future of their Monroe location is uncertain.
