Fat Joe Verzuz Ja Rule… and the Winner is Ashanti

New York was treated to another night of honor and celebration of Hip Hop as Verzuz returns with the battle of Fat Joe vs Ja Rule.
I knew Tuesday was going to be an epic night, as soon as I clicked on the Instagram Live, the DJ’s were in the middle of a 2 Pac Tribute, honoring his life 25 years after his untimely death on September 13th 1996. I had to visit the corner of Koval / Flamingo in Las Vegas to commemorate this moment. Watch the video here.
Okay back to the lecture at hand. Both Ja Rule & Fat Joe won their fair share of rounds, with a little help from fellow artists like Remy Ma, Lil Mo, Dre (from Cool & Jay) and Nelly.
The night ended with Jadakiss performing the anthem “New York” off Ja Rule’s 2004 R.U.L.E. album featuring Fat Joe.

But the real MVP of Verzuz is Ashanti! Not only did her battle vs Keyshia Cole rake in a recording breaking 6 million viewers, she literally sang hooks for Ja Rule & Fat Joe All Night Long. She even scored a public display of affection from her ex-boyfriend Nelly, who ran across the stage to give her a hug!
