Fans can finally listen to the Wu-Tang Clan’s one copy album… but there’s a catch

Written by on June 5, 2024

Wu-Tang Clan’s legendary album “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin,” the only copy ever made, will be accessible to a select few at the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in Tasmania from June 15 to 24. The album, recorded over six years and known for its secrecy, will be part of the museum’s “Namedropping” exhibition. This exhibition focuses on rare objects with unique properties, featuring curated private listening sessions. The album, housed in a silver box with a leather-bound book, was initially sold to Martin Shkreli in 2015 for $2 million. After his fraud conviction, it was seized by U.S. authorities and later sold to digital art collective PleasrDAO in 2021. The album cannot be commercially exploited until 2103 but can be played at private listening parties.
