Experts testify at UFO hearing in Congress

Written by on November 14, 2024

A congressional hearing on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) explored the possibility of alien life and examined claims of government secrecy about UAPs. Journalist Michael Shellenberger presented redacted reports, urging transparency, while retired Navy Rear Admiral Tim Gallaudet shared his experience of encountering unexplained objects during military exercises. Luis Elizondo, former head of the Pentagon’s Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, asserted that advanced, non-governmental technologies monitor sensitive sites globally. Former NASA official Michael Gold emphasized the importance of removing the stigma surrounding UAP research, calling for open scientific dialogue. Shellenberger advocated for UAP transparency legislation, stressing bipartisan support for national security.

Established in 2022, the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) standardizes UAP reporting from military and FAA sources, but it does not allow public submissions. Historical UAP records, including those from Project Blue Book, are publicly accessible, yet most have been resolved, with only 701 remaining unidentified, with no evidence indicating extraterrestrial origin.
