Two major fires in Rochester left eight firefighters injured, but all are recovering at home. The Rochester Fire Department responded to a four-alarm fire on Dewey Avenue, followed by a three-alarm blaze on West Avenue during extreme heat. Firefighters suffered burns, heat exhaustion, and sprains. Lt. Jackie Sierra highlighted the physical toll and the department’s safety protocols, including rest rotations and on-site medical checks. The community is urged to give space during active fires as crews put their lives on the line to save others.
