Duckles Named Interim Monroe County DA After Doorley’s Retirement
Written by Tariq on August 26, 2025
Monroe County First Assistant District Attorney Perry Duckles is set to serve as the county’s interim district attorney following Sandra Doorley’s retirement Sunday, according to a spokesperson for the DA’s office. The first assistant automatically takes on the responsibilities of the DA during a vacancy and stays in the role until a successor is elected or appointed, according to the governor’s office. Duckles, a lifelong Rochester-area resident, has served as a county ADA since 2003 and accepted his current role in 2016. Doorley will not be speaking to the media ahead of her retirement, which was announced in a letter issued Aug. 1. It came after a New York State Commission on Prosecutorial Conduct report released July 15 recommended a public censure of Doorley, citing her conduct during the viral April 22, 2024 traffic stop at her Webster home. Doorley, 62, has worked for the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office since 1992 and was elected in 2011 to serve as the county’s top prosecutor.
