Dawn Robinson Opens Up About Homelessness and Self-Discovery in ‘Car Life’

Dawn Robinson, a founding member of En Vogue, recently revealed in a candid YouTube video that she has been living in her car for the past three years. The 58-year-old singer shared her journey, emphasizing resilience rather than seeking sympathy.
Robinson explained that in 2020, she moved from her parents’ home in Las Vegas to Los Angeles at her former manager’s suggestion. However, when that housing arrangement fell through, she ended up in a hotel for eight months. She claims her manager later interfered with her efforts to find stable housing, leading her to embrace a nomadic lifestyle.
Despite the hardships, Robinson found a sense of freedom, comparing her experience to a camping trip. She admitted missing her family and feeling lonely, especially after the loss of her dog, Max, but she remains proud of her journey.
The singer, who left En Vogue in 1997 but briefly rejoined in the 2000s, encouraged others to take risks, stating, “Be spontaneous. Do the scary. F—k fear.”
