Comedy icon Dave Chappelle has been named the recipient of the prestigious President’s Award at the 56th NAACP Image Awards, set to air live on February 22, 2025, on BET and CBS. The award honors individuals for their distinguished public service and cultural impact, with past recipients including Rihanna, LeBron James, Kerry Washington, and JAY-Z.

NAACP President Derrick Johnson praised Chappelle’s ability to address complex social issues through humor, cementing his legacy as one of the most influential voices of his generation. Chappelle, a six-time Grammy winner and five-time Emmy winner, is recognized for his legendary career in stand-up, film, and television, including his groundbreaking work on Chappelle’s Show.

The NAACP Image Awards will also feature community-driven initiatives, such as the Altadena Community Preservation Fund, which aims to support wildfire-affected communities in Southern California. Fans can vote for select award categories online, with additional virtual award presentations set for February 18-21.
