Cream Of Wheat Decides To Update Its Branding

According to Rolling Stone, B&G foods has launched an “immediate review” of Cream of Wheat’s brand packaging.
The current “Cream of Wheat Man” identity resembles the previous mascot, who was based on the character Rastus, a character from minstrel shows in the 1800’s.
The name Rastus has been used as a racial slur in the past.
B&G Foods has released a statement, saying:
“B&G Foods, Inc. today announced that we are initiating an immediate review of the Cream of Wheat brand packaging. We understand there are concerns regarding the chef image, and we are committed to evaluating our packaging and will proactively take steps to ensure that we and our brands do not inadvertently contribute to systemic racism.”
