COVID Vaccine Clinics for Children 5 to 11 Receive Successful Turnout
Written by Site Hub on November 9, 2021
Monroe County vaccination clinics had quite a busy weekend as children five to 11 years old rolled up their sleeves for their first vaccine dose for COVID-19. According to the Monroe County health department, 348 doses were distributed at four vaccination clinics.
Dr. Stephen Cook at URMC was at the Pittsford clinic on Saturday, and he said that almost every appointment slot was filled: “Every time a new age group opens up, it’s those early adopters. The people who buy the iPhone 14 before it’s out. The families who are coming in early are ones who have been talking about it, are very positive, who themselves are vaccinated, and want to get a roll on it…Making the site as fun and friendly as possible is really key. So we’re constantly brainstorming, maybe we’ll wear a silly hat and goofy long socks.”
