Lupien formally announce her candidacy, her campaign manager, Dylan Dailor, confirmed her intention to run to News 8 Tuesday night. A resident of the North Winton Village, Lupien, a Democrat, represents the East District. Asked why Lupien is challenging a fellow Democrat, Dailor says Lupien believes Evans has not done enough to directly help Rochester residents. He pointed to the millions being invested in the ROC The Riverway initiative saying Lupien believes that money should be sent to residents to use now. Lupien has been a lightning rod in her time on council, taking controversial positions on issues such as police funding and a Gaza ceasefire resolution.
