Colin Kaepernick sent a letter to LeBron James thanking him for using his platform to raise awareness about the shooting of unarmed Black Man Jacob Black in Wisconsin last week.
The letter started by saying:
“Four years ago on August 14, 2016, I began protesting against systemic racism and social injustice. Truth is what I sought. Solidarity is what you showed me. Love is what moves us forward. Thank you for staying true.”
James shared the letter on instagram with a caption that reads:
“Standing/kneeling right next to you brother!”
In response to the shooting of Jacob Blake, James was quick to condemn the action. During a postgame interview following the Game 4 victory over the Portland Trailblazers, he said:
“Quite frankly it’s just f**ked up in our community…And I said it, I know people get tired of hearing me say it but we are scared as a Black people in America. Black men, Black women, Black kids, we are terrified,”
