Coco Gauff Advances to China Open Semifinals

Coco Gauff defeated Germany’s Eva Lys 6-3, 6-4 to reach the semifinals of the China Open, marking her first semifinal since June’s French Open. The win boosts Gauff’s Beijing record to 14-1, making her the first woman since Jelena Jankovic (2006–08) to make three straight semifinals at the event. Already a three-time Grand Slam champion, Gauff is aiming to defend her 2024 China Open title and secure her 11th career trophy. She praised her aggressive play against Lys and said confidence will be key as she prepares to face either Amanda Anisimova or Jasmine Paolini in the next round.
