US senators are going after Amazon, since their products keep bursting into flames.
A CNN investigation has found that dozens of Amazon Basic products are still for sale despite numerous complaints that they are melting, bursting into flames or exploding.
Senators Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, Robert Menendez of New Jersey and Ed Markey of Massachusetts wrote a letter to Jeff Bezos expressing their concern after the CNN investigation showed that Amazon had been ignoring safety concerns from customers about specific electronic products.
Amazon didn’t directly answer the senators but they did release a statement that said “safety is a top priority” and that “We want customers to shop with confidence and if ever a customer has a concern, they can contact customer service and we will investigate.”
The investigation found over 1500 customer reviews on 70 different products that included the words “hazard” or “fire” and requesting that the products be recalled.
