CityGate Complex Is Facing Foreclosure By The City of Rochester

The City of Rochester filed court papers this week against the CityGate property that runs along East Henrietta road.
According to the court documents, the developers haven’t paid any property taxes to the city, even though they have been collecting them from the tenants in the complex. The City would like to appoint an overseer that would observe the rent collection and then separate the tax payments so the city can collect.
In addition to the overseer, the documents show that the City wants the properties to be sold and the developers banned from any future ownership of the properties.
In a statement to the media, City of Rochester Corporate Counsel Tim Curtin said:
“The owners of CityGate have failed to pay real estate taxes due (and tax equivalents) since 2017. In the interests of those who actually do pay their City property taxes, we have no choice but to enforce the tax obligations due to the City respecting this property.”
